Before you started seeing and hearing about pickleball, the humble beginning of the sport dates back to 1965 in the back yard of Joel Pritchard’s house located in Washington state.  Joel and his friends Bill and Barney were looking for an activity that all their family and friends could participate in. The men turned an old badminton court, a plastic ball, and wooden paddles into a sport that has gone far beyond their backyard. Society Yards is bringing you that foundation and keeping the backyard spirit alive by creating remarkable pickleball and social fitness pop-ups where families and friends play and gather in a backyard-like environment.
